I hate ironing!  And the sweltering hot weather is making it an even more dreadful task.  Now, don’t tell me to turn on the air-con when I’m doing my ironing, ‘cos I think that is a really environmentally unfriendly thing to do.

What is it with people anyway?  Why do we need to wear pressed clothes?  If everyone were to wear crumpled clothes then it’ll be the norm right?  We can then throw our irons away!

In this age of automation and technological advancement, the iron seemed to have been left far behind.  We seem to have no choice but to keep ironing.  I’ve found some wrinkle-free fabrics to be less than wrinkle-free.  It’s also not possible to have all your clothes in such fabrics.

I turned to Google for help but didn’t find much.  There’s a tip teaching how to iron without an iron, but this is not practical to practise at home and it doesn’t produce the results that an iron does.

Then there’s this Electrolux dryer that looks promising but with a huge price tag.  I’m not sure if it’s even available here.

Perhaps someone should ban fabrics that require ironing or ban ironing altogether.  We need to conserve all the fuel that we can get.

And after all, not ironing clothes will not hurt anyone.  Crumpled clothes are not health hazards, do not spread diseases, and best of all, will help reduce global warming (ok, ok, maybe by a teeny-weeny fraction).

And we will have one less dreadful, time-wasting task to do!
